How did Scandi boho decor style become the best?

Suppose we had to define what is Scandi boho decorative style quickly. In that case, we could say that it is the Bohemian style a lo Scandinavian, or the Scandinavian style a lo boho. When we look at one of these rooms decorated with each of these styles, i.e., Scandinavian or Bohemian, it isn’t easy to find elements in common, but rather what they have different and even opposite.

What do the Scandinavian and Bohemian have in common?

Believe it or not, they have things in common, and that’s what I like to highlight most about them, either separately or when both styles come together to bring Scandi boho to life.

These two decorative styles love textures. We will find it in blankets on sofas, chairs, benches, and beds in the Scandinavian style. While in the bohemian style, you can find them on rugs, blankets, macrame wall hangings, dream catchers, etc.

Another feature that the Scandinavian and Bohemian styles have in common when decorating their houses is the use of natural elements such as wood, woven baskets, and skins.

And to give life to their spaces, plants are an essential element. The bigger and thicker, the better.

What is different about both decorative styles?

To summarize the Scandinavian style, we can say that it combines simple lines, neutral colors (white and gray of preference), almost bare walls and floors, and the necessary furniture.
The bohemian style combines patterns, ancient or ethnic decorative elements, colors of the entire chromatic wheel, and a maximalist decoration in a few words.
Yes, they are very different decorative styles. But what happens if you like the most minimalist spaces, but at the same time, you want to add details in color and patterns and textures in some decorative pieces? Then the Scandi boho style is for you!

How to decorate a room in the Scandi boho style?

Start with a white background and add layers using natural materials, patterns, and colors.

The Scandi boho home is characterized by using wood and rattan for furniture. Wicker, bamboo, and ceramic for pots. You can also choose rattan and fabrics for your lamps.

Here you add texture and color using textiles with varied patterns in blankets, cushions, and rugs. Do not forget the sheepskin that gives a Scandinavian look to your room.

As for the color, you can choose a monochromatic palette, choosing a primary color and playing with the tones of that color. Or you can also add color accents to this palette. But, please, do not use neon!

The choice of antique, vintage, and/or ethnic objects gives a bohemian touch to the room, but it is not worth placing them randomly. Here comes the Scandinavian touch creating almost art galleries in the way they choose placement and order for these objects, either by their similarity in the color palette or by themes (collections, for example).

We leave the plants for the end, giving life and freshness to the room. As I said before, the bigger and thicker, the better. And if you also add cactus and succulents, you will have a green paradise at home.

Let’s do it!
