Christmas decoration: a family tradition
After a walk in the forest, we picked up almost everything what we needed to make our Christmas decoration. For the base we used a large branch that fell from a tree, moss, pinecones and branches of our pines. But if you do not have the possibility to get natural materials, you can always get them at any craft store.
Materials:
- A base. The base can vary, and you can do it with a more modern style using a metal or wood tray, or even a ceramic plate.
- Clay
- Moss, dried pine cones and pine branches
- Candles
- Christmas balls
- Decorative accessories: lights, mushrooms, apples, etc. (optional)
- Garden scissors
The first thing is to choose where you will place the candles, since the decoration is put around them. To fix them to your base, use clay. You make a ball with the clay and place it where the candle will go. When the clay is in the chosen place, you use the candle to press the clay and make a base that will hold the candle.
And now you begin to decorate around the candles by first using the larger pieces, that is, the pine branches. These are introduced to the clay base so that they remain stable.
Then it comes the dried pineapples and all the rest of the decoration according to your own taste. To cover the clay base, you use the moss. And finally, we add the Christmas balls and itโs done!
This Christmas decoration is part of my husband's family tradition. I love it because now with two children, we can all participate knowing that each one has contributed with something to make our decoration. And although my children are still small, it was funny to see how Thiago wanted to take all the pine branches, while Freja made a mask with the clay ๐
